Class Descriptions

SSY offers classes for students of all levels, from beginners to seasoned students and everyone in between. All are welcome.


A class for all students new to yoga or checking in with the basics. Focus is on breath, fundamental poses and vocabulary. While classes will usually be somewhat challenging physically, they are taught at a slower pace, with detailed explanations of alignment and a focus on practicing the poses correctly. No experience or flexibility needed.


An excellent overall yoga experience where you get a little of everything, physical workout, mental release and spiritual cleansing. Considerately guided inspired design that caters to the needs of the people present in class. Class leaves you feeling recalibrated and happy. Some knowledge of sun salutations helpful.


A great flow but not as intense as the flow class. This class includes gentle stretching exercises and breathwork combined with relaxation, all at a slower pace. This is a perfect class for beginners, those in need of stress-reduction, and those who may have limited mobility.


This class is suitable for students with some prior experience. Focus will be on building strength and flexibility. There may also be more advanced breathing and meditation techniques. As appropriate, deepen your practice by exploring more challenging poses such as backbends, arm balances and inversions.


All levels yoga class with intentional movement focused on returning back to the breath. Suitable for all levels, includes meditation and breath awareness.

Pilates Mat

Class begins with a warm up and moves through a sequence of classical pilates exercises to strengthen and sculpt the core. Ends with stretches to leave feeling amazing.

Yin Yoga

Yin is gentle but intense class that helps the student to open the body, cultivate the ability of observation and stay with sensation with a quiet attitude of acceptance. Yin provides a perfect balance to an active or Yang practice as it goes beneath the superficial muscles to areas which are difficult to open and release. Appropriate for all levels. Poses typically held 3-5 minutes.

Flow into Nidra

This class combines the best of all worlds giving you some time to move and some time to rest deeply. You’ll start class with some movement before being led into a guided meditation practice. You’ll leave this class feeling like you did the work AND you’ll feel deeply relaxed. Appropriate for all levels. Please have blankets and pillows available for your nidra portion.


Melt away your stress and nurture your soul in a restorative class. Progress in your yoga practice doesn’t always occur by “doing.” Recharge your energy reserves and heal the effects of stress, bringing about conscious relaxation. Props are used and poses are held for several minutes to restore your mind and body connection. Appropriate for all levels. 

Wild Card Wednesday

Community class for the midweek blues and blahs. Reset your week by connecting with others and remembering we are all in it together. The Wild Card is just that – the instructor will draw cards intuitively to create a sequence that may include meditation, yoga nidra, vinyasa, yin, restorative or gentle flows. You’ll receive exactly what you need.

As independent teachers, we each accept donations for classes via PayPal. Donations are optional. If you are compelled to make a donation, the suggested donation for the class is $10 – $25. Links to make donations can be found in your confirmation email.
